Our Valentines Day

Valentines Day has always been one of my favorite days of the year. Probably in part because my Mom always made it such a special day for my sister and I and I have tried to carry that tradition on in our family.

This year our homeschool group had a Valentine party for the children which was such a fun time! There were 71 children that attended which meant we had quite a few valentines to prepare. We decided to make our own as we always enjoy a craft project (my husband took on that project since I was not home that night -- thanks honey!) and of course the cards were not perfect but it's the thought that counts.

I loved the look of delight on Tank's face as he took a heart from hiding behind his back. He so enjoyed being a part of something his older brothers usually only are in.

After our party we attempted to surprise Daddy with a visit and a valentine but could not find his car in the parking lot. Turns out he was at another building for a meeting.  The rest of the day was spent relaxing at Grandma's house. She was babysitting for my nephew who is a little younger than Tank and the two of them haven't gotten along well but lately there has been a change. I was so happy to see the two of them wanting to take a nap together on Grandma's bed. I think they will be good friends as they grow up. Tank told me that my nephew is his "friend best".

Wednesday night we always eat supper at my parents house so my Mom was able to do her traditional Valentine meal which isn't always the same but has the same elements consisting of mainly RED food. The table was very festive and she had gone all out making heart candy and cookies and had a little bag of goodies for each of us. Thanks Mom for all of the special touches and for continuing to create memories.

What a great day!

I appreciated your comments on my reading recommendations. Honestly, up until the past couple of years, the only books I was reading were parenting and homeschooling related. It's a phase, and now that my youngest is 4, I find that I am able to add some more fiction and classics into the mix. I'm not nearly as tired as my sleep isn't interrupted nearly as often!

Hang in there! There are plenty of days in your future for pleasure reading!
